From Firefighter to Gutter Expert
The Gutter Factory was born from hard work, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to family
It all began when Eddie, a firefighter and single Dad, started installing gutters part-time while serving at the fire department. What began as a side job soon became something greater. With a gutter machine already built and ready to go, Eddie decided to take the leap and ride the wave.
Looking at the process of manufacturing the gutter while you’re at a location and showing up with raw materials to produce a product and the factory is exactly what the trailer was so he called it The Gutter Factory.
BALANCING FIRE DEPARTMENT, FAMILY & BUSINESS
Running a business while serving in the fire department wasn’t easy. tried his best to take care of everything while the kids were at school but like anything else, there were exceptions. did not want the kids to know what happened at the business. and see what goes into the lifestyle we had growing up. and keeping everything divided between the fire dept, family and business. Sacrifice was having the business and making it work.
Built on Integrity and QualitY
From day one, Eddie built the business on two core values: quality and integrity.
To him, integrity meant “you do what you say you’re going to do, and you give what you say you’re going to give.” Those values became the foundation of The Gutter Factory’s reputation and success.
Firefighter Roots
Balancing 24-hour shifts at the fire department and running a business wasn’t easy. Yet, Eddie believed both roles were about service, helping people, protecting homes, and doing the job with honesty. Without a firefighter’s badge on the business name, he felt he had to work even harder to earn trust. And he did.
Family at the Heart
As his kids grew, Tucker began helping out sometimes earning just fifty cents or a dollar, but learning that hard work pays off. Eddie made sure they saw the value of effort, responsibility, and pride in what you build. Nothing made him prouder than hearing his children say, “My dad owns The Gutter Factory.”
Passing the Torch
After years of dedication, Eddie knew it was time to step back. He had worked tirelessly at two full-time jobs and wanted to see his children carry the business forward. With advice on financial discipline and long-term vision, he passed the torch to the next generation. Today, The Gutter Factory has grown beyond what Eddie ever imagined. Tucker his kid, have taken it to new heights—expanding services, embracing new learning, and keeping the same promise of quality and integrity alive.
For Eddie, the greatest reward isn’t just the business itself—it’s the life it helped create for his family. He often says: “I built it all to live a better life.”
TRANSITION TO The Next Generation
In January 2022, Tucker officially took over The Gutter Factory from his father, Eddie. For the first year, his mission was simple: keep the business steady while dedicating more time and energy to growth.
When Tucker first stepped into his role, he focused on the basics: making sure work was consistent and clients were happy. But over time, he’s grown into a leader who adapts quickly.
Tucker saw himself as a crew leader—scheduling jobs, checking materials, installing gutters, collecting payment, and repeating the process day after day.
Challenges and Lessons
Scaling the business wasn’t without obstacles. Tucker had to transition The Gutter Factory from what was once a part-time family business into a full-time operation—all while finishing his two-year degree. He remembers mowing lawns for neighbours just to pay for books and tuition while keeping the company moving forward.
The supply chain shortages after COVID-19 also brought unique hurdles. At times, essential materials like downspouts or elbows were missing in certain colors. Instead of turning homeowners away, Tucker kept them updated and worked with what was available—always staying true to the company’s promise of integrity and service.
Milestones in Growth
Key turning points have defined Tucker’s leadership. Hiring their 1099 contractors and putting them on a payroll system so they receive a W-2 helped create stability and gave workers the security of real paychecks. For Tucker, this shift was about more than paperwork it was about building a workplace where people want to stay, grow, and take pride in their craft.
Another milestone was embracing technology. After watching his father manage everything with pen and paper for 20 years, Tucker knew it was time to modernize. New systems and streamlined processes using technology have made operations smoother, allowing the company to scale while maintaining the same standards of quality and integrity.
THEN. NOW. ALWAYS.
From humble beginnings to a professional, full-service team, The Gutter Factory continues to protect homes and serve the community with pride.
